Promoting the drinks trade in the north west for over a hundred years through education and events

- North West Wine & Spirit Association

In the year of 1904, the first sound recording is made, the entente cordial is signed by Britain and France and the first car registration number plates are introduced in the UK. It was also the year that the North West Wine & Spirit association appoints Chas J Bushell as its first Chairman. The association has survived over 100 years of history to remain at the heart of today's wine & spirit trade. Promoting education and communication between members and planning for growth of our trade sector.

"Wine to me is passion. It's family and friends. It's warmth of heart and generosity of spirit. Wine is art. It's culture. It's the essence of civilization and the art of living"

- Robert Mondavi

We run Wine & Spirit Education Trust courses, designed to help you in your career and further your understanding and enjoyment of wine. We raise much needed funds for the Wine and Spirit Benevolent Fund and hold a series of social, educational and networking events.

Our objectives include, furthering the united interests of the members in the area covered by our Association (Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, North Wales and the Isle of Man); promoting friendly communication between members of this Association and all connected with the Wine & Spirit Trade; providing educational facilities to improve the understanding and appreciation of wines and spirits; and to raise funds for The Benevolent, The Drinks Industry Charity.

Education, education, education, a philosophy at the heart of our association, we have a mission to train North West professionals and individuals in the art and science of wines and spirits. We offer a range of courses to suit all levels, so if you are a trade professional or an individual that wants to learn more, there is a course on offer to suit your requirements.

"Our courses are an invaluable part of our training programme. We send people from many departments; sales, marketing, customer services, to name a few. Not only do the courses give our teams a greater understanding of wine, but they motivate them, making them feel part of something bigger."
- Bob Rishworth, Halewood International
